Chroma Key Effects
Quick question for all the Vegas’rs here,
For chroma keying, I’d like to have lets say a picture in the background (easy, no big deal here), BUT, for the silhouette of the figure remaining in the chroma key, is it possible to black it out? Like have a black figure against a picture etc.? Extending from that, would it be possible to have an image being revealed wherever the figure moves. For example, a picture of a lion, the chroma key figure reveals the image of the lion depending on where the chroma key figure is in the frame. (i.e binocular effect with figure)
Example: the lion’s head is at the top right, tail at bottom left – if the figure moves to the top right, you see the lion’s head then as you move towards the bottom left, you’d see the body until you get to the tail. Unless your hand was sticking to the top right, you would only see the tail at the bottom left by the end of your movement.

Conversely, replacing the black background with video or image while the chroma key figure reveals a separate picture or video where it moves.

If I understand correctly, you can do what you want by duplication the foreground track and using it as a mask. In the Sony Chroma Keyer (and most 3rd party chrome keyers) you can view just the black and white mask (Show Mask). So you would process the two tracks (foreground and background) as normal with chroma key. Then duplicate the foreground track, turn on the black and white mask (Show Mask checkbox), and set the track composite to Mask Mode. Then place the Lion under the duplicate foreground track and make that Track a Compositing Child of the mask track above it.
You would have this track configuration:
Track 1: Duplicate for Foreground in Mask Mode
Track 2: Lion
Track 3: Foreground with Chroma Keyer
Track 4: BackgroundLike this:
