    Hi,
When using the chroma key effect in Vegas 6 do I have to add the chroma key effect at the beginning of the clip? The reason I’m asking is: The subject enters the camera view from offscreen (all that’s seen at the beginning is the green screen) and I add the effect when the subject enters camera view (using the eyedropper, show mask only, high and low threshold,etc.). When I then scroll to the beginning of the clip the chroma effect is gone and I have to use the eyedropper again-sometimes 2 or 3 times. Also the “show mask only” is turned on again-sometimes in 2 or 3 places. Am I doing something wrong? It seems as if the effect uses keyframes that change over the length of the effect. I thought it was either applied to the whole clip or not at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like you’re creating multiple keyframes. Instead, you only want to adjust the FIRST keyframe. If you can’t see the keyframe timeline, readjust the screen so that you can see the keyframe timeline area. There’s also a little “lock” icon below that timeline that, if turned off, it won’t follow the cursor when you move along the keyframe timeline as you move on the main timeline.

    Hi,
You’re right- I must be creating multiple keyframes. That’s how it’s acting. How and where do I readjust the screen to see the keyframe timeline area? Is it on the timeline itself? I tried expanding the track containing the greenscreen footage but I’m not seeing anything. Thanks for your help.

At the bottom of the ChromaKey dialog is the keyframe timeline. If you can’t see it, it’s been resized to “nothing”. Move the mouse to just above the bottom of the dialog box and it should be an up/down arrow. Click and drag upwards to make the keyframe timeline visible again.
