OK so Im having an issue with Premier. I import a 20 minute movie file, add it to the timeline, then chop it up with the razor tool, to pull just the clips I need. I remove the audio and pull all the clips to the left to the front of the timeline. Problem is, now the video is all choppy. I know theres a way to timestamp and just pull the parts of the video I need when bringing video in from my mini dv camcorder, which creates multiple small videos. Is there a way to do the same when importing from a file already on my pc? or from the dvd itself in my dvd player? Im thinking the reason for the choppyness is Im bringing the 20 minute video in and cutting it up in there, and its too much info because its trying to pull from the big video in real time. I dont think its my pc. I just got a new one with Duo core intel 2.6 2 gigs of DDR ram and a huge Ge-Force 7900 GS that I had to hook up to 2 extra power sources in my tower. Its twice the size of the one I pulled out of the pc. Although I am using Premier 6, not even pro. Any ideas?

Open your clip in the preview window, play the video, and press letter I for an in point and O for an out point. Drag that clip into the timeline. If it seems choppy maybe your clip duration is too short or maybe you could use transitions to smooth out clip changes. I’m not totally sure I know what you mean by choppy. Please clarify. What’s the average duration of each clip?
