    Hello all

I’m a novice editor on Premeire Pro, just starting to get some of my first few projects as a freelance editor. I have a few clips shot of the subjects at busy traffic intersections, and we need to speed up the motion to get the fast motion effect.

I know there are several ways to do this, and getting it done was simple. My question is, does Premeire Pro simply need time to render the effect for smooth playback? I try to apply the effect, and its choppy, almost like I’m losing frames. Thoughts? Is there more to changing the speed then I think there is?

I am editing off of the external hard drive. Does anyone think that might have something to do with it?

    [John Heckt] “Thoughts?”

It seems your hardware can’t run the effects in realtime and you’ll need to render. You didn’t tell what your hardware is and what kind of footage you are editing.
