Choppy Audio Problem
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I recently purchased Upshift to convert AVCHD files into a workable form, and it appears it is working correctly. The m2t files it produces play fine in any media viewer. HOWEVER, when I import these files into Vegas, the audio gets “chopped up”. Every 0.1 seconds (almost exactly), the audio cuts out completely for about 0.015 seconds or so. Obviously, this creates a very jittery (and unacceptable) audio track. Other than noticing that it takes Vegas a long time to import these mpeg files, everything else seems to work properly.
Right now my work-around is to use the “upshifted” video with the original AVCHD audio, but obviously that is getting tedious.
Any similar experiences or suggestions?

What version of Vegas are you using? I am using Vegas 8 Pro and have used both Upshift and Gearshift on AVCHD without issues.
I’m only new to NLE’s but is it possible codecs you have installed are interfering with Vegas in some way?
What settings are you using when your create the upshift, I will replicate and test. Another option is to post a small section of the video somewhere and we can also test that, to see if the problem is file or computer specific

Thanks James – I too am new to NLEs. I’m using Vegas 9 Platinum. As far as Upshift parameters, I was unable to create ANY changes to the choppy output regardless of settings. For what it’s worth, most of the time I’ve used the “high quality” default option. I did notice, though, that if I tried to open the “upshifted” file in Sound Forge, all I received was an offer to purchase an MPEG plug-in. Is it possible this is simply a missing plug-in issue?
I’m currently uploading a sample video to VASST to see if they can replicate the problem importing it to Vegas. If I don’t learn anything more, I will take you up on your offer.

Just out of curiosity, what camera are you using? I have tried importing several sample m2t files (from the web), and none are exhibiting the audio problem. In fact, Vegas seems to like them much better (speed in loading, etc) than any of the output from Upshift.
I am wondering if the AVCHD format Canon uses is not handled as well by Upshift.
I guess my next step would be to find some AVCHD sample footage (from Canon and others) and Upshift those on my machine.
