  • Choosing Sequence Preset for ProRes 422 Edit

Posted by Bob Lampel on July 15, 2009 at 2:55 pm

I am using a Sony HVR-Z7u (not mine) and recording in HDV 1080i and am going to digitize in ProRes 422. How do I decide on the correct Sequence Preset in my Easy Setup? Assume I’m looking for a normal HD video look. I will be mixing in other non-Sony generated media such as DVCPro HD and others.
    Thanks.

I would choose the preset that matches the majority of my footage. In your case it’s ProRes HD at 1440×1080 60i. However, you should simply drop a clip in the timeline and let FCP match the settings to your video.

Note that only the very first clip you drop in will ask you about the sequence settings.

    Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for your advice. So, does it not not matter which sequence preset I choose in Easy Setup (since it’s determined when I put my first clip in the timeline?)

    No, it doesn’t matter.

    Have a wonderful day.
