Yeah…that’s true. AVID MC4 and MC5 do mixed frame rates well.

Because the RENDERING TO PRORES only works with HDV and XDCAM footage. All the other footage in the timeline will render to ProRes, and that will a) look like crap, and b) cause the computer to crash…often. Been there, done that. Not pretty.

Well, my home version of Avid is 3.05. Sure when you convert everything on the import to whatever rez your drives will allow – you will get “homogeneous” editing environment. Which is the same as you actually achive through prores.

If you upgrade to avid v4 or v5 you can mix and match pretty much anything you can throw at it without transcoding to a common format. It is not the same thing as FCP or earlier versions of MC.
