Choice of new internal SATA drive for MacPro? and sata raid controller
Buying a new internal drive cuz I don’t want to clean up the others for a new project. Yeah, it’s like buying new clothes so you don’t have to do laundry.
I do HD, but my external G-Raid usually keeps up just fine even on FW800. That said, I’d still like a decent inernal sata drive. I can only support 3Mb/sec on this old 2007 MacPro, not the 6Mb drives.
I was looking at getting a 2TB Seagate or WD drive. Hitachi has some bad reviews (and yeah that’s probably what’s in the G-Raid). The seagates are expensive for 7200 RPMs. And the WD Green seem like a good deal except when I read they won’t go to sleep in Mac Pro. WTH?
I’d love to know anyone’s preference or experiences.
Also, I’d like to get a sata raid controller for the G-Raid to get more speed out of it than just an external FW800 connection. Any opinions?
