Being fully aware of the differences in aspect ratios I’m trying to find some sort of conversion to compare the focal length of our HDX 900 to a Nikon D40,(That just happened to be the camera I had handy at the time). The Nikon 6mp chip is 23.7mm x 15.6mm and has a 1.5 conversion factor to a 35mm negative. What is the actual dimension of each chip in the HDX900? It’s only referred to as 2/3″ in the manual.

I tried comparing them by shooting an old registration chart and ended up shooting a 15mm focal length on the HDX and 60mm on the Nikon. That just doesn’t seem like it could be correct. I set the framing on the top and bottom and ignored the sides since the aspect ratios are so different. I know I’m missing something and am hoping for someone to kick my gray matter to life.

    Thanks!
