Cheapest way to preview SD on external video monitor?
I’m looking for the cheapest way to preview out to an external video monitor? DV? Blackmagic card? Something else?
Also, does it make sense to spend extra for HD monitoring capabilities when I won’t be using it for at least a year or two?

Go DV with one of the Canopus boxes or an old DV camcorder that has analog outs. Hey, the transport doesn’t even have to work if you want to go really cheap.
Regarding spending the money on something you won’t be using for a year or two, put the money somewhere else, or save for a plugin that you might need, more RAM … you never know. Besides, in a year or two, HD will be cheaper. 🙂
