    Looking for that magic button…
I have a stick figure, literally.
This guy is basically a pole with a head (a raster image). I need to move him around like he is dancing. I have tried bending
and warping him but it’s pretty lame. Does anyone know of a plug in that will help me out in some way? (with mo cap keyframes would certainly be ideal) Possibly allow me to distort the ‘pole’ with bezier curves like a line in illustrator? Or any other kind of suggestions (other than learning character animation for real) I need a quick way to do this piece. Anyone want to take a shot at this I’d be happy to get the help, but it’s gotta be today.

    Thanks

    Brian

If you have CS3 you might look into the Puppet tool as an option. You can keyframe something like a walk cycle (or a dance cycle in your case) on the pins and then loopOut() the animation to have it loop continuously.

The Puppet tool can be a little weird at first, but it’s a valuable tool in CS3. So if you have the time (which it sounds like you don’t) I recommend you jump in and learn to swim =)

    Dan’s tut, “Inverse Kinetics Redux”,

    https://www.motionscript.com/design-guide/ik.html

is the closest thing to a magic bullet, IT IS MAGIC once you get it setup, but that is not an instantaneous thing. But complete submersion in his setup would make you a dancing whiz is less than 24 hours, so I guess that qualifies in “it has to be today”.

Why do people wait until the last minute before asking for help?

Surely, it’s not a matter of pride?

I’d much rather seek help early, finish the project, then take pride in the finished product.

Let’s face it, missing a deadline is nothing to be proud of.

    Thanks everyone!
I had given the project to someone over the weekend that didn’t do a good job so now I’m kinda stuck…
