Normally when I’m making blu-rays they’re for short HD projects that don’t have any chapter stops, so I can’t remember if this has ever happened before or not. I’ve got two hour-long avc/ac3 files I dragged into a blu-ray menu in DVDA. All files were exported from Vegas 9.0e with “Save project markers in file” selected, but when I view the files in DVDA, no chapter markers are present. I tried hitting the load markers button, and made sure the sfl files had the same names, but no luck. Any ideas?

Try adding the chapter markers right in DVDA itself.

Well of course you’re right, that would clearly work fine. But I already marked and labeled about 25 chapter markers between the two clips while I was editing in Vegas. Does DVDA just not support importing chapter markers for a blu-ray?

“Does DVDA just not support importing chapter markers for a blu-ray?”

It seems that there’s still a bug around this issue.
    Are you using DVDA 5.0b?

Here’s a workaround from the SONY DVDA forum.

I have a need for both DVD and Blu-Ray versions. So, I have rendered both .MPG and .AVC in Vegas. The MPG has perfect markers. So, I start of with the DVD version, complete it and save it as XYZ-DVD.DAR. I then re-save it as XYZ-Blu-Ray.DAR and start the process of changes: change properties, ADD AVC file to the timline (separate new video track). Save Markers. Remove old video track. Load Markers. Voilá. Done.

Instead of adding another track, would ‘replace’ video work? (after saving markers) I also frequently need BR & DVD copies of the same project. I find that DVDA throws up a few odd text changes when starting with DVD, then changing the properties to BR.

Yes, that works to, but (in my experience) if you first add as second video track and put the AVC up there as well. Simply remove that second track after you’ve done the replace on the first track. But… replace the video using the properties panel, track media.

That sounds like a good idea. I’ll give a try tonight, thanks!

Yep, worked like a charm. Hope they fix this in the next version. Thanks again!

David, I’m glad to hear that it worked for you and yes, there are a lot of folks hoping for improved Blu-ray authoring capabilities in the next release of Vegas and DVDA.
