Does anyone know how to get that effect of a tv channel change with frame hick ups/snow/noise ?
Im trying to have this effect happen between multiple clips as if the user is flipping through the channels but like in the 80’s type of tv channel flipping effect?

I don’t have access to the spot so I can post it tonight, but I did something that sounds like this once. It was so effective that viewers called stations to complain their signal was breaking up and we had to re-post the spot.

My technique was to take one second of video from both sides of each edit (1 sec is a lot, but it gives plenty of handles/options) and export each to QT. Then I brought each movie into AE and created several comps where I treated the clips with a variety of applications of DigiEffectsDelirium’s VideoMalfunction. I made some renders lightly “messy”, then made others very messy and then some in-between.

I imported all the results back in to the editor and then cut between the various rendered results JUST BEFORE AND AFTER THE EDIT POINT so that it appeared the channel was changing. It looked great.
