  • Changing the sub-title text color over time.

    Hi friends,
I’m new to FCP. Our company focuses on adding ‘Same Language Subtitles’ to songs. This sub-titling differs from the normal subtitles in a sense that the words are high-lighted as they are being spoken.

For eg. “Good Morning” . This text would be in complete red color at the start. After 5 seconds, first word would change to white color. Then after another 5 seconds the 2nd word would also change to white. That is the text words should change their color overtime.

Have a look at the sample video to see this effect in action:
    https://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3514442491374632719

1.What would be the best way in FCP to achieve this?(We are having FCP 5.)

2.What would be the preferable titling app?
I saw LiveType . The inbuilt text generator of FCP?

I have a text file with 50 lines.I would like the app to read this txt file and produce 50 sub-titles for each line starting from the first. Is this possible with the above applications?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks for your time,

    Arvind.

For subtitling I can recommend the SubBits Subtitler by videotoolshed.com.
You can easily paste your lines there and then export to Final Cut.
For how to achieve the effect:
It doesn’t really matter which text-plugin, qualitywise I recommend Boris, if you use the SubBits subtitler there is a plugin for text included. I would lay to identical textlayers, change the color of the upper one and animate a four-point-mask over time to achieve the “decoloring”. This is pretty fast and easily configurable.
