  • Changing the length of multiple still images and crossfades

Posted by Josh Hamington on November 8, 2008 at 7:29 pm

I am a new Vegas Movie Studio 9 user, and I have a question I am hoping someone can help me with. I know that if I insert new still images into my movie, I can set the still image length in the Preferences menu beforehand. I also know that I can set the cut-to-overlap conversion (crossfade).

My question is: How can I change these two parameters to multiple images *after* they are already inserted into the movie? I know that I can individually drag the ends of each image to change its length or transition, but how can I do this for an entire set at once?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

If you group them together using the ‘G‘ key you can Ctrl+Drag to stretch them as a group. That’s about all you can do in the Movie Studio version.

Thanks, John, for the quick and very helpful reply. As a follow-up, is there a different version of Vegas Movie Studio that handles this scenario differently (Platinum, Pro, etc)?

In Vegas Pro you can run scripts which can help you change the length of events and transitions independently. No version of Movie Studio has scripting and it quite a jump in price up to the Pro version. You should be OK with just grouping and stretching.
