Changing the capture data rate
Posted by Zen on May 2, 2005 at 8:09 amHi all, still new to Vegas but i’m loving it more and more 🙂
Just one thing, is there a way of changing the data rate for capturing?
At the moment I’m capturing 720x576Pal from DV cam, would like to get the highest quality possible.Zen replied 21 years ago 4 Members · 8 Replies -

May 2, 2005 at 9:04 amIf you’re capturing with firewire, you’ve already got the highest quality possible.

May 2, 2005 at 9:46 amthankx for the quick response 🙂 So 3.4 Mgs/sec is the highest that can be captured? Somehow I thought it would be higher.

May 3, 2005 at 12:39 pmNo, that’s about it.
Sounds like you’re coming from the Avid/Discreet world where you can dial in your caputre rate. That’s not possible with firewire, you are in fact getting it as good as it gets.

May 3, 2005 at 11:47 pmI use LE also and did some side by side tests. I compared 10 megs per second and the DV 3.4 and could not see any difference. Except that the reds are really jaggie. I hate this about DV.

May 3, 2005 at 11:58 pmYes I know what you mean. But still I think it’s time to change for me, I find the ability of Vegas to work with any kind of footage absolutely fantastic.
One thing though, Titling, I just don’t like Graffiti and as for the built in option it’s very very basic. I can only wish I had my TitleMotion working with this. What do you use? -

May 4, 2005 at 12:13 amI don’t use LE much anymore at all. I use Vegas(because of 24pa). I miss the realtime effects though. Vegas renders a little slow but is rapidly improving and network rendering rocks. I’m network rendering over a wireless and it works! I don’t like the titler either, and really miss Title Motion. I have not found a good one yet. I have heard Tim talk about Heroglypf 2(you can download a demo). I tried it and I don’t love it yet?? We need to pressure Title Motion. If they can support Premier Pro, then they should support Vegas. They are missing the boat!! If they had it, I would buy now!! It is the only thing that is not good about Vegas except for no Hardware support. Were you using Premier or Razor?

May 4, 2005 at 12:26 amI was and occasionally still using Premiere 6.5 as P Pro is not compatible.
It was a good setup for it’s time he he it’s more like a dinosaur now.
At some time I worked with Edit too but discreet killed that one.
From all the edit progies I worked with, I find Vegas has most features I’m looking for except the Plug ins.
Things like TM and HFX are a bit of a disappointment. More than anything else though it’s TM that I miss. Shame!
Last night I downloaded Graffiti 4 trial but I found it a soup of a program to work with.
