Open the ALE file and look at the first block of metadata at the top of the file. There is a field called “Tape” then a value. Edit the name to what you need it to be.
Also check to make sure there is no column called Tape in the next block of text. The way it works is that the Tape value in the header is the global tape name used if no additional tape names are listed in the “column” and “data” blocks. If there is, values in the the column and data override the header allowing different clips to have different tape names if needed.
An easy way to get them all is to copy the name you don’t want and do a search/replace in a text editor to the name you want. The name of the ALE file itself has no bearing on what gets listed in Avid – it is for consistency purposes only for file management.
