changing speed rolls back footage
I am new to final cut pro and I have used the speed percentage change option before but now I’m having a problem.
I have a long single shot that I wanted to set to variable speeds. I used the razor tool to cut the shot into three sections, then right click and choose ‘speed’and change the percentage on one section. The new problem I’m having is that when I change the speed, it rolls back footage into the clip, effectively adding footage that’s already there in the previous cut of the clip.
I mouse click everything so it is possible that I changed a setting while working on the clip. Does anyone know what setting I changed, or how to resolve this issue? Thank you.

Change the speed to the whole clip, cut. Change the speed to the second cut, and cut again. Then change the speed to the third cut.

Also, you might try making each an Independent Clip after cutting the large clip into 3.
