Hi so I need to change the Serial Number on the FCP system I’m working on because of a conflict with another machine running FCP on the network. I’ve searched this and the solution that has been given is delete the file named “Final Cut Studio System ID” in Library/Application Support/ ProApps. The problem is I don’t have a folder called ProApps in my Application Support Folder and when I search for “Final Cut Studio System ID” it’s nowhere to be found on my machine. And FCP is running perfect.. I’m quite confused and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you’re looking in the root level Library folder, not your user account’s Library folder. As in (System Drive)/Library, not (System Drive)/Users/(username)/Library.

So I am wanting to change my Serial number but it continues to use old serial number after reinstall and after I have already erased the FINAL CUT PRO SYSTEM ID File. Any thoughts on how I can change the serial number?? I have 10.6.1 and Fcp 7…. any help would be great and I dont want to completely wipe my boot drive

    I’m having a related issue.

I need to find out the Final Cut Pro serials for several machines. Finding the serials for FCP 6.0.6 is easy but FCP 7 is proving impossible. I have many install discs – but I don’t know what serial belongs to which FCP on what machine!

In FCP 7 there is no serial on the splash screen or in the box that pops up when you click “About Final Cut”. I have located the Final Cut Studio System ID but opening the unix file proves useless.

    Anyone have any ideas?
