changing rotation order?
Posted by Rich Helvey on June 5, 2009 at 4:47 pmQuestion for math junkies: Is it possible to force after effects to change its rotation order with an expression somehow?

June 5, 2009 at 7:01 pmI would think it would be easier to use a parent and grandparent null. Have each null and the layer itself responsible for one axis of rotation.
Otherwise, I’m sure you could use an orientation expression and three angle controls, but I don’t have the math handy.

June 5, 2009 at 7:02 pmI’m trying to avoid adding any extra layers, so the multiparenting thing would only be a last resort. (Now, if after effects had a layer grouping technique like Photoshop’s folders, it would be more acceptable.)
hmmm… more googling, I suppose. Either that or I have to tackle the trig myself and it’s Friday. My brain hardly even does simple arithmetic on Fridays. 🙂

July 21, 2011 at 6:53 amDid you ever find a solution? I’m currently looking to convert an imported cameras rotation from xyz to zxy. Without the conversion, the cameras curves are of little use to me. I’m currently researching euler rotations and conversion using matrix math. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
