    Hi all,

Quick question, along the same lines as the age old Pro Res v HDV debate.

I’m working on a project for a client, and all the original tapes from our first shoot, I captured myself from HDV into ProRes. However from the subsequent shoots the client needed to capture the tapes first for their podcasts etc. Now I’ve been given a drive full of HDV footage from the client, and I’m debating as to whether I should batch it to ProRes or keep it as HDV but change my sequence render settings to ProRes. Does this mean that my final output will be ProRes quality? Will there still be the HDV issues of length of time it takes to color it or color loss?

Any pointers would be greatly received folks.

    Thanks.

    Yes will be Proress quality.
But don’t forget to set “Render all YUV material in High Precission YUV”. Your HDV footage will be rendered in 32b Floating point.
Rendering back to HDV (or XDCAM) it takes very long because the MPEG-2 structure. Exporting to any Intraframe codec it should be always faster.
