Changing platform
Posted by Kelly Marcott on November 14, 2007 at 4:20 amHello,
I have AE 6.5 Pro on my windows system and have recently changed to a Mac platform..rather then shelling out another grand for a Mac version of AECS3, is it possible to get some kind of a platform change disk or something? Too much to wish for?
Does Adobe have some kinda discount for getting software to another platform?Kell

November 14, 2007 at 7:36 amyou should upgrade to CS3 anyhow seeing that it is the only Intel native one and has a lot to offer.

Used to is the operative term, Steve. I don’t believe that they do this anymore. A couple of friends of mine were recently turned down when trying to crossgrade their software. This policy no longer is in place if I am not mistaken.

November 14, 2007 at 3:55 pmYou are welcome, Steve.
As I said, I could be wrong and I hope that I am. I would hate to think that Adobe has given up this program. But I have had a couple of people tell me that they couldn’t do it and were turned down. Hopefully, we will hear from some others here chiming in with their own reports on this.
Kathlyn and I hope all is well with you and yours there in Toronto, Steve.
Best regards,

November 14, 2007 at 5:34 pmI spoke with an Adobe rep a few months ago about this, and he told me they offered cross-grades for just the cost of shipping the disc to you, provided you fill out the paperwork.
When I told him stories I’ve heard on various forums about the cross-grade not being available, he said they have some very lazy reps who will deny its availability just so they don’t have to deal with it and can move on to a “paying” customer. He said that if they turn you down, ask for their name and ask to speak to a manager.
Then again, they might have changed their policy since this conversation took place, I wouldn’t be all that surprised.
