Changing Media Properties??
Hi,
I am currently working on a project with 2/3 stills and 1/3 video. When right clicking on a still and going into Media Properties my Field Order is set at none (progressive scan). I would like to change this default to Upper Field Order. I did a test comparison on a portion of this project in which I am getting some flicker on the stills in the none (progressive scan) field order. The test in the Upper or Lower field orders were “much” better (flicker slim to none), therefore I would like to change the default to the Upper Field Order on my stills. Is there a way or is there a default setting of doing this without clicking on each still individually to make the change?
I am using some motion on these stills and have set them all in the “Reduce Interlace Flicker” setting. I would also like to mention that I am rendering this project using MainConcept MPEG-2 template HDV 1080 60i
I am going to use DVDA for menus. I tried to use the DVDA NTSC widescreen video stream template, but it left a lot of my stills flickering. The best setting I could find was the HDV 1080 60i template. I have also rendered them in Best, video quality set to High and used Two Pass for comparisons.

You would need a script like Ultimate S Pro or Excalibur to do this on a large number of events.
It is not recommended that you change the media properties to something other than what the media actually is. Vegas is correctly detecting that still images are progressive. Telling Vegas that they are interlaced when they clearly are not may cause unwanted side-effects (although you seem to be getting the desired results you may be loosing vertical resolution?)
How big are these images? Try scaling them down to the project resolution if you are not zooming into them or 2x the project resolution if you are.

Many are high resolution. I will reduce them some, but in the past when I done this I lost some clarity which is understandable. I am zooming in on approx. half of these stills. I know that when ever you manipulate a still picture you either deal with flicker and/or clarity issues. As you have recommended in the past, setting the gaussian blur to .01 has helped me with many stills. As always, thanks for the help, Ray
