The take system in C4D is recently the bane of my existence. forgetting you have it overrides on autotake for just a few moves can throw your project into a confusing array thats hard to get back.

More specifically I’ve noticed what seems to be a bug. I’m changing the colour of a redshift light in a child take and it is changing the master colour (therefore effecting every other take). What is going on? Its not doing this with other settings i’m changing per take. Any ideas? This is unusable at this point.

    Hi Josh,

I don’t know if you was copy the overrides from the child take to the main take, but I think you could use the “current take to new document” and then change the light colour after that, it might help to overcome the affecte to the main take, I hope this helps you.

This is still a huge problem, is there a bug with the system? ‘Current take to new document’ is not a solution, it erases all of my takes.

So it has been working okay, then today for some reason, when i change the light colour in one take, it affects the other. They are both child takes of the master, this makes no sense as is completely broken.

    What is happening?

    Hi Josh,

If you’re using 2024 version, there may be some bugs in the take system. If you could, try to open the file on another version to confirm (I’m using 2024 as well). This may depend on the nature of your scene, but you may be able to work around the issue by saving the take as a separate file, or by duplicating the light, then going to the rest of the take and using the “Remove from Current Take” command so that the new light remains in the wanted take only.

    I hope this helps.
