    Hello,

We shot a band playing in a dark room with bright lights and so the video came out a little contrasty with very bright spots… (kind of a cool effect) but we are trying to bring that back down to a more natural look.

I know we can mess around with the color correction after the material is imported, but I wondered if there was anyway to set the capture so that it imports the entire tape a with a little lower gamma or something of that sort so we can avoid the rendering that color correction takes.

    Thanks for your help!

You can get an external process amp to adjust this on the way in, or fix it in FCP with a filter then copy and paste that filter to your whole timeline.
