changing field dominance for file [tiff] import
Posted by Rick Broat on April 13, 2008 at 5:12 pmI would like to change file import from none to lower field when bringing in tiffs. Is there and option for that?

April 13, 2008 at 5:14 pmTiffs do not fields, so changing the field dominance setting will have no effect.

April 13, 2008 at 5:55 pmIn the browser they are coming up as none in field dominance column. I am seeing what looks like field mismatch on my bcast monitor when I play the seq down. I did find that if i control click on none it allows me to change from none to lower. In avid world field dominance matters w. tiffs….

April 13, 2008 at 6:02 pmHave you checked “full” in the render dropdown, and have you rendered?

April 14, 2008 at 2:02 amAre you sure your tiff isn’t a freeze frame of video where there was motion? If so, it’s not going to matter what the field dominance is, you’re just going to get back and forth vibration no matter what. Doesn’t matter if you play field 1 first or second when you’re playing field 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2 over and over again. If there’s movement then there’s just normal movement between the fields. The answer is flicker filter or deinterlace.

I to get info on the TIFF sequence. In the column where it indicates field dominance, there is a little, hidden pop-up menu there. You should be able to force it to upper or lower, similar to the footage settings in After Effects. TIFF sequences can have fields just like anything else.

You may well be correct Scott, but the original post says nothing about “sequential” tiff files.

“I am seeing what looks like field mismatch on my bcast monitor when I play the seq down.”
