    Hello,

I need to know if once transferred, I can change my clips’ settings. The footage was imported as Apple Pro Res 422 when it should have been DVCPro-50, now the clips look grainy and weird. Could someone please tell me if it’s possible to change these settings now? The footage has been deleted from the P2 cards! I would appreciate the help

You cannot just change it, but you could convert it using compressor. Keep in mind the conversion will take plenty of time. Why does it need to be changed pro res is a better codec.

So, you shot, importd the footage, then ERASED the cards? You didn’t back them up, and then import? That’s like shooting, importing, and tossing your camera tapes if you shot on tape. Why would you do that?

No no…you need to shoot to P2, BACKUP the entire contents of the P2 card, THEN import. And keep the backup. That is your master tape…you keep it, you don’t erase it.

Now…that being said. What camera did you use to shoot this? What format did the camera record? because with P2, FCP imports many formats at their native resolution. DVCPRO HD comes in as DVCPRO HD. DVCPRO 50 comes in as DVCPRO 50. But if you shot AVCintra, it comes in as ProRes (well, you can do native, but there aren’t settings for it). If you didn’t shoot DVCPRO 50, FCP will not import the footage as DVCPRO 50.

Watch this tutorial… YOu GOTTA back up your footage.
