Trying to help out an editor this morning:

He’s got music on A1-A2 (stereo pair) and a mono sound effect on A3. All 48k aiff. If he changes the dB value of A3, A1-A2 change with it! So if A3 goes to -20, A1-A2 go down to -20 too. This goes for entering a value or dragging the pink slider.

I played around with it for 10 minutes before I had to leave and couldn’t seem to break the relationship. I am completely miffed. Is there something in FCP that you can link audio levels between completely separate tracks? right now I’m chalking it up to gremlins.

I’m not clear on the relationship between the 3 tracks. When you click on one of the tracks are all selected?

there’s a stereo track and a mono track.

when you change the dB value of the mono track, it changes the value of the stereo track. They’re not linked or related in any way.

Did you ever figure out what was going on with this? I’m suddenly having the same problem. I have two mono tracks which are not linked to one another. Each time I try and adjust the audio level keyframes on one, the other track’s levels move as well.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

    Thanks!
