  • Change Timeline from Multiclip Edit to Original Media

I wondering if there’s a way to edit a one track multiclip, and then once all of the edits are in place, convert the multiclip back into its component media clips.

So say I have shot 1, shot 2, and shot 3, I make a multiclip out of them. I perform my line cut, so it’s just the multiclip in the sequence. I want to change it back to having the 3 pieces of media in the sequence, but with the same line cut. Does that make sense?

Basically I’m have a project I’m doing in adobe premiere, but it only allows 4 cam multiclip, and for one phase of the project I need 16 mutliclip functional, hence FCP. I was hoping to then be able to change it back from multiclip so I could export the XML data and bring it back into Premiere.

Needless to say, this project is a bit of cluster****.

Select all clips on time line, right-click and choose collapse multiclip. The operation is reversible.

    Two quick points

    – In Premiere Pro anything can be a ‘camera’ including a sequence of clips
    – We know we need to improve the number of cameras we can handle.
