  • Change start frame of Motion template?

Posted by Andreas Zeitler on January 2, 2013 at 12:41 pm

    Hello CreativeCow,

I am using some Motion generators in a project. I know that you can’t change the start frame for a motion template in Final Cut. The generator/effect/title always sets itself back to its first frame when cut. At least to my knowledge, unless I’m doing something wrong.

Yesterday however, I was able to edit a motion template added to the timeline using the blade tool and it was cut at the frame I cut it. It was late and I was sleepy, now I can’t figure out how I did it. Maybe I’m just experiencing some bug or is there a way I haven’t heard of yet?

I couldn’t find anything on Google either.

    Thanks.

You can open the templates in Motion and change pretty much anything and then do a Save As and bring it back into FCP.

In addition to what Tom said. You can access all of the templates in FCP at the default start up screen when you open Motion and then change away.
