  • Change preferences – Capture

I have been exclusively capturing DV footage, so when that dialog comes up and asks you if you want to capture HDV or DV, I choose DV, and after awhile I decided to mark the little checkbox that says not to ask me again.

Well, of course, now I need to import some HDV, and cannot figure out where I can reset the preferences so that it asks me what type of import I want to do.

Hopefully this is an easy fix.

    Thanks

The little box that you are missing states “This method can be cahnged later in the Preferences” but I looked and I can’t find it. I know this has been asked before and answered.

Yeah, I thought I had read that message, but i couldn’t find it either. I tried searching a couple different ways, and couldn’t find an answer, I’ll keep looking. Thanks for the confirmation.

I even selected the “Default All” option in the preferences, but that did not work.

Go into VEGAS. Now Options – Preferences – Video tab

Check or uncheck the “Use external video capture application” box.

Yes, this will change the video capture app that opens when you open ‘capture’. However it will not bring back the choice window that you originally would see. By removing that window (Always use this choice!) it would seem that you have relagated yourself to the additional clicking necessary to do as Edward has stated. Not really a big deal but I wish I would not have eliminated the window in the first place.

You *CAN* get the question box back. Just hold down CTRL-SHIFT when starting Vegas and it will start asking that question again. Of course you’ll need to go back and change all the preferences you’ve changed again.

    CTRL+SHFT worked!

    Thank you so much Edward.

Now I will not check the box again. It was slightly misleading for them to tell you that you could get that box back in the preferences.

Anyway, I can reset my prefs again. Not a huge deal

    Thanks
