change of synch on export
Does anyone know of a reason why an export to QT, same settings, from an HDV sequence would yield a self contained movie where the audio/video synch goes out?
The timeline sequnce plays in synch via Kona2 LHe, G5 Quad, SATA Raid, et al. The reference movie, self conained, is out of synch. It is out of synch both in QT player and when brought into a new sequence in FCP 5.0.4.
This is making me crazy as I try to get my movie ready for a July 15 film fest deadline.

When you cut with the card, were the speakers connected to the card or the Mac? If they were connected to the Mac and you were monitoring to NTSC, you see that problem. Speakers should be connected to the card.

And the sound is only a small part of my problem now. Evidently an update of Quicktime has affected its relationship with Compressor. A vendor sent me some clips shot on HDCAM that he sent to compressor for HDV encode (default settings). (I am editing a movie in HDV native with some clips coming in from HDCAM) This process has worked like gangbusters up to this point.
All my new imported scenes have serious motion problems that weren’t there on the previous transfers he did with an older QT version. He didn’t upgrade Compressor since his last successful transfer. Just Quick Time. All of my software versions are unchanged since receiving the original clips that worked.
FCP5.0.4, QT 7.1The sequence that has the new clips is having all sorts of problems. Stuttering playback, intermitent audio drop outs, and horrible motion artifacts. All problems happen where the new clips have been put in. If I open those clips in QT and look at the format info, the attributes look the same as old clips. The one exception is that the aperture “clean” box is checked. It isn’t on my older clips. All of my sequence and project settings are unchanged.
I tried re-encoding to my version of compressor (2.0.1). No dice. I think I need to post this to a different topic.

Yuck. That doesn’t sound good at all. You may have to go back to a previous version of QT and FCS.
