Change Default Pan/Crop Aspect Settings?
Posted by David Martin on June 23, 2022 at 4:53 amIs there a way to change the default setting for Pan/Crop from locked aspect ration to unlocked? I need to change multiple events and each time I open the Pan/Crop menu it gets reset to locked.

June 23, 2022 at 5:16 amThere’s a setting in the Internal options (fEventPanCropLockAspect) and by default it’s set to TRUE. However, setting it to FALSE only deselects the icon in the Pan/Crop menu. It doesn’t change the value for Maintain Aspect Ratio: from YES to No, and that is what affects the selected event. The presets don’t save the setting, either.

June 23, 2022 at 4:17 pmYeah, that’s part of the solution. And the Vegasaur plug-in has a command that makes that really easy. The problem is that copy/paste does not change the aspect from locked to unlocked. The crop I did was to move in the border one on side without affecting the other sides. If the aspect is locked, the opposite side moves in as well. That’s what happens with copy/paste. I need to close the pan/crop dialog for each event, select the next event, call up the pan/crop dialog, unlock the aspect ratio, then paste (actually I made a preset, but that saves no time).
This is all the result of my failing to correct the source video before I began to split the events, but that ship has sailed. And I have a number of projects to fix, with heavily edited events. I tried contacting Vegasaur to see if they can help, but they must have gone out of business, because I’ve sent 6 messages to them over the past week with no response or even an auto acknowledgment.
So, I’ll just face up to it and do them one by one. It will give me a chance to check the edits at any rate. Thanks for the suggestions.
