change comp names automatically

do you ever run any scripts before.. from Scripts folder or ScriptsUI Panels folder??

yes from the scripts folder; all the time.

no from scripts UI panel.

nothing shows up from the window drop down in either a mac or PC , i copied the folder name exactly as you wrote it.

I dont know why it isn’t working. If you have had this work fine then maybe there is something wrong with the set ups of these machines. I couldn’t tell you, but they do run other scripts with no problems.

If you have the answer then great but in the mean time thanks for all your effort so far.

Thanks you for writing this script. i have it installed and it appears to be working. Does the script work with wild cards? I need to change names like a typical ‘find and replace’ function names in an After Effects comp. for example, say i have the following: Joes_PreComp, Joes_GlowComp, Joes_ShadowComp and I’d like to go through and change ‘Joes’ to ‘Larrys’ everywhere in my After Effects file. How can I do this?

Did you ever figure out how to create a “find and replace” function as mentioned by Brett McConnell?
