  • Change color of title safe area overlay

Posted by Dan Dennis on March 30, 2017 at 6:32 pm

This has been bugging me for a while. I cannot find anywhere in Adobe After Effects CC (2017 Version) that allows me to change the color of the safe title/action overlay. As it stands, the overlay is pretty faint and when I’m working on a laptop it becomes very difficult to see. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there a way to make that overlay stand out better? The grid and guide preferences don’t address it. Hope someone has some insight. Thanks.

The best I can suggest is to draw the guide overlay the way you’d like (Ae/Ps/whatever), then place it in your comp as a locked shy guide layer.

no way to change to overlay safe region, but you can place guides instead to help you better see it if you want. you can change the guide color in the preferences. you can also create a safe area of your own using shape layers and save it as a preset and use it as a guide layer so it won’t render.

    Those are helpful workarounds. Thanks!
