  • Change Clip colors in timeline?

Posted by Chris Heuer on April 25, 2008 at 6:40 pm

Hello! Avid guy just getting feet wet in FCP. I have a sequence with shots that will need to be exported for FX work once I have the cut finalized. I’d like to make these clip segments on the timeline red (or any bright color) so I can find them easily when I’m done.

I’ve looked through the manual everywhere that I think would have this info but no luck. Is this possible in FCP?

    Thanks, Chris

    Chris,

I don’t think this it possible. It should be, but isn’t.

A work around is to use time line markers or clip markers.

In the time line hit M twice and type the name of the marker. If nothing is selected the marker will be on the sequence. If the clip is selected the marker will attach to the clip.

    Best,

    Tom

Cool! I had found that while searching the manual and it’s been working very well. I didn’t know about the difference between marking the clip vs. the sequence, thanks!
