change capture settings
Posted by Matt Stalker on April 11, 2006 at 8:48 pmOOPS!
I just logged a handful of clips to batch capture as audio only…Now I can’t seem to change that setting to audio and video. I tried overriding the capture settings, but I guess that has nothing to do with which channels are being captured. Can I change these clips to capture audio and video or do I need to re-log them?
Thank you,
Matt

April 11, 2006 at 9:28 pmYes I did create a batch capture list…Now I want to change the properties of an offline clip to capture video in addition to audio. Working in ppro2 by the way…

April 11, 2006 at 9:46 pmI just tried it and it wouldn’t allow me to modify the capture settings.

April 12, 2006 at 1:37 pmRight! So is there no way to change the settings of a logged clip without re-logging? In this case I’ve only two or three to fix…However if an entire list of a hundred or more clips was accidently logged incorrectly this would constitute a loss of hours of client time. I can tell you that the assistant editors in my shop have boxes and boxes of tapes to digitize every night and mistakes like this are not uncommon. I really hope there is a way that these settings can be changed! Anyone else have any idea?
Thank you,
Matt

April 12, 2006 at 11:03 pmFunnily enough, I did the exact same thing at the capture stage of a short film I’m editing at the moment.
It came about by missing a text box whilst batch capturing and hitting ‘a’ at some point, which, unfortunately, changes the capture settings to ‘audio only’ (as does ‘v’ for video only). This wasn’t noticed for a while, and so a lot of clips were captured in audio format only. I had exactly the same problems as yourself with regards to changing the capture settings (which seems impossible, a ridiculous oversight on Adobe’s part, surely, considering it’s so easy to inadvertantly change them in the first place).
It took forever to find a way of remedying this, and I eventually found it on the Adobe forums, by which time I’d recaptured everything anyway and so didn’t try it out and now, would you believe, can’t find that particular topic on said forum. I’ll keep trying to locate it though, and will let you know if/when I do. If I can’t please accept my apologies in advance…
Good luck in the meantime!

April 13, 2006 at 1:45 pmMike at Adobe Support found a way…If you export the problem clips as a batch list, and then reimport the list, the associated settings are reset, and you can capture the clips with any settings you like through the capture window. Good job Mike at Adobe Support!
Thank you,
Matt
