  • change canvas size –make smaller?

I’m editing some public domain 16mm footage in FCP that I dl’ed from the Prelinger archives. It was saved in MPEG-4 format. Trouble is, the image is smaller than the standard FCP canvas. If I scale it to fit, it gets too pixilated/cruddy. If I leave it at the size it was, I’m left with a black “frame” around the image.
Is there any way to change the canvas size/scale it down so it fits my image?

There’s not a “standard” size. What kind of project are you working in? DV? HDV? Something else?

What’s the destination of this project? Web? DVD?

And what pixel size are the files you downloaded?

The downloaded file is probably quite small. Find the Web site again and look for a higher rez version.
