  • Change and orient Object’s Axis along an edge

    Posted by Su-won Hadj-amar on June 22, 2015 at 2:42 pm

    Hello guys
I have a bunch of objects.

With the axis center tool, I’m able to move the main axis of my object along an edge.
However the orientation of the axis doesn’t change! Beside moving I would also like it to be oriented along the edge. Is there a way to do that?

In selection mode, the axis of the selected edge is oriented properly. However I need to bring this axis to become the object’s axis….

    Can anybody help me?

I apologize in advance if it’s a dumb question.

    Thanks! 🙂

use the Alignment option of the Axis Center dialog box (top of the Mesh Axis Center menu – not the Center Axis To… quick link)

    That’s what I’ve used. But as I said… it doesn’t change the orientation…

So, does anyone know the answer to this question?

It’s seam so weird. I just want the pivot of an object to move and align on an edge.
All I’ve managed to do so far is re-position it, but I coulnd’t align it properly.

    Thanks

I think you have to choose an axis, if you leave it to “All” it doesn’t seem to get it quite right.

Sorry, I just figured out that there was a python tag on top of my hierarchy… without it I can manage to align things properly. 😀
