    Hi guys,

The title is not entirely true, I’ve been using AE for some time now but only for personal projects since my computer struggles when running it.

I’ve been offered a Mac Pro (cylinder) with these specs:

Is this powerful enough to work on AE with things like extruding text, 3D cameras and so on? Not planning for now on getting into big projects.

    Thanks!

It should do alright! You would benefit greatly from more ram. Around 32gigs is a good amount for just doing personal projects or other jobs that aren’t too crazy.

    Thanks Max!

Do you know any place where I could find more info on how to properly set up a computer (mac, since I’d be new to it) to run AE?

    (following thread.)
I’m retiring an older souped-up Mac and needing a new AE workhorse.
Here are the questions I’m looking to answer in my new machine:
    — Is Apple still the way to go? Should I consider a custom built PC?
    — If Mac, which one? They don’t seem to be headed in our direction for pro video work any longer, with such a big focus on consumer products. I have an AE associate that simply bought a solid iMac, and seems happy with it.
    — I have 96GB of RAM, but I don’t ever see AE access more than about 30% of it. Did I misunderstand what RAM could do for me?
