I am looking to optimize my CG background render settings for use in a movie edited in Vegas Pro 9.0.

I am using Cararra for doing my CG for a space film. I see that I have several options regarding primarily image size and DPI. I have tweaked these in the past with no overt results or differences.

I am planning on shooting and editing in 1080i, 24P.

Should I create my background image in 1920X1080?

Will I gain any advantage by increasing the DPI from 72, 150, 300, 600, or higher? The higher the DPI, the slower the render.

I know 72 to 300 is a necessity for print. Does bumping up the DPI any higher in a 3D modeling render actually make any difference in a video render?

    Thanks!

DPI has no bearing whatsoever on video.
The image size, in pixels, is your only concern.
If you’re going to be doing any zooming or panning of the CG image, then make it double your project size, otherwise leave it at your project setting of 1920 X 1080.
