  • Certain metadata is not reading into CatDV

I am hoping there is a simple fix for this, but I have many audio files including Apple Soundtrack Pro CAF Sound Loops (core audio) that have metadata info embedded in them that CatDV does not seem to parse properly.

The data it does not seem to read in particular consists of the following:
    Album
    Musical genre
    Authors
    Copyright

With some audio file types the Composer maps properly and Authors maps to Artist which is better than nothing, but not entirely accurate. In the case of the Soundtrack files it does not do this and seems to pull very little embedded metadata from the file.

I have tried adding user data fields that match these, but that does not seem to do the trick (I could add the data manually, but that would take too long across 1,000s of clips). Is there a way to map the categories above to existing metadata fields within CatDV or add them so CatDV will read the file properly on import?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Best,
    Gardiner

CatDV should read most audio metadata but if you can forward a sample file and a brief note of what fields should be being read and aren’t to support@squarebox.co.uk then we’d be happy to investigate!
