    Hi everyone.

I am attempting to load a few different videos into Sony Vegas 9.0 (Build 562, 64-bit) but it keeps crashing immediately after it loads.

The first video is a clip I made myself using Sony Vegas. It’s only about two minutes long. It’s an mp4 format and it’s codec is H.264/MPEG-4 AVC with mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC audio.

    Here’s the dump:

    Problem Description
    Application Name: Vegas Pro
    Application Version: Version 9.0 (Build 562) 64-bit
    Problem: Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)
    Fault Module: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\mcmp4plug\mch264dec.dll
    Fault Address: 0x00000000060F80A7

    Fault Process Details
    Process Path: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\x86\FileIOSurrogate.exe
    Process Version: 1.0.0.1
Process Description: Sony File Interface Surrogate (not visi

The second clip I try to load into sony vegas is an M4V format and the codecs are the same.

    Here is the stack dump:

    Problem Description
    Application Name: Vegas Pro
    Application Version: Version 9.0 (Build 562) 64-bit
    Problem: Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)

    Fault Address: 0x0000000005EC80A7

    Fault Process Details
    Process Path: C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0\x86\FileIOSurrogate.exe

Process Image Date: 2009-04-17 (Fri Apr 17) 00:55:24

With these clips, I can’t even load them into AVI Demux in an attempt to change the codecs because even that crashes. I’m not sure what’s going on because I’ve used these clips before.

    Please advise.

[Chelsea Volz] “Application Version: Version 9.0 (Build 562) 64-bit”

Hi Chelsea. The latest version of Vegas Pro 9 64-bit is 9.0e Build 1146. There have been 5 patched versions between what you are using and the latest. I would start by updating to the latest version of Vegas Pro 9.0e and then try again.

These clips may be corrupt. You might want to run a check disk on your drives to see if they have any problems. Just right-click on the hard drive icon in Windows explorer and select Properties | Tools and press the button under Error-checking that says Check Now.
