    Select the Move tool.
    Select all the layers in the layer pallette that you would like to align.
    Below the menu bar, you will find all the buttons for the various types of alignment.

    Yes, it is higly appreciated when somebody informs us whether a reply was usefull or not. Thanks. If you wish, you can even use the cow rating button when a problem was solved completely.

    You find the small cow-buttons on the bottom-right side of every post.

    And all the posts that you rated with 5 cows, will appear in your personal favorite list. Which is a very handy way to collect usefull post together at one place.

    I was thinking guides.

    Dragging an element to centered guides (default behavior) on a canvas will also center an element.
