  • Centering anchor point moves my element – Why?

    Hi,

After expanding a square I want to reset my anchor point to the middle of the square. To do this I CMD doubleclick the Pan Behind Tool. However, this misplaces the object. When all I want to do is get an accurate reading of the vertical position. Why does it move the object when it is just supposed to move the “handle” on the object, so the anchor point?

    Thank you!

Is it just a naked Shape Layer with one Rectangle in it?
    No whatever effects/expressions/parentings?

In my experience, best practice is to set your anchor point before applying position keyframes. I understand you’d love to slip your object under the position keyframes and center it but it doesn’t work that way–someone should make a plug-in to have the position keyframes off-set correctly.

You might be able to work with nulls to get what you want in the event you’ve done a ton of animation and don’t want to start over.

    Best regards,
