I have RED 1920×1080 23.98fps square pixel. I need to send to broadcast in SD. Can I leave the pixel square, or is there a best way to get the pixel to NTSC CCIR 601 without squishing the image. Also, it will not be letterboxed. Or, can I leave it square pixel, or is this a major no no.

Do nothing. Edit normally, then output via a capture card that will do the center extraction. If you are using FCP 7, you can see that they guides now include 4×3 title and TV safe, so you can see where your image will be cut off.

    Just edit normally.
