    Hi,
I have to censor audio and replace it with the BLeep tone.
What are the specs for this tone?
Is there a tool in FCP that generates this tone?

    Thanks!

    Cheers!

    I don’t think there’s a set standard.

I always use the tone that’s part of the color bars. Which is what, 1000 Hz, right? Anyway, it’s easy and seems to work.

Hey Nick I sometimes will just drop the audio out al together, if I don’t have M&E tracks to sub with. I think in some cases its less intrusive.

A cut is a cut & a dissolve is a disolve, and not just anybody with a system is a pro.

I do this a lot. It depends on the material. 95% of the time I just drop the audio. If it’s comedic material, a bleep may be appropriate. But most of the time a bleep is a huge distraction that draws attention to the fact they are swearing more than anything else.

I think Deadliest Catch which has some pretty “salty sailor” language has done the best with explicatives. Covering the audio with fishing background effects, may not work in your situation.
