Activity Forums Maxon Cinema 4D Celluloid Film wrap on Spline path problems (file and picture)

The best way to do it, IMHO, is to clone the strips straight (linear mode) and then apply the spline wrap deformer to the cloner. Deformers can work if they’re the child of an object OR if they’re at the same heirarchy level. In this case you have to use the latter method, because the deformer can’t be a child of the cloner. Long story short: put the cloner and the deformer in a null.

Another problem is that the film strip geometry doesn’t have enough subdivisions to bend. I first ran the optimize command to weld the points, and then used the knife tool to cut it up a bit.

Adam, thank you so much. This is perfect. I really appreciate the work you put into this. I didn’t know you could put the deformer in that type of hierarchy. Also, didn’t even think about optimizing and cutting. When I tried to cut it would distort the geometry. Taught me a lot. Thanks again!
