I bought 6.5 pro off of AcademicSuperstore.com a couple weeks ago.

It came with a DVD, “Introduction to Adobe Video and Audio Solutions”. So I popped it and and watched some of their section on After Effects.

The guy on the video shows some different effects… he says some of the “really great ones” can be found by just typing in the letters “cc” into the effects/presets pallette thing where it says “Contains”. When he does that, it loads up a decent sized list of different effects alls starting with the letters “CC ____________”

However, I get no such effects…

Anyone know what’s up? Is it because I ordered my program thorugh a student discount store!? HELP!!!!

    Thanks in advance!

They do not automatically install. You will have to pop in your AE 6.5 install disk and install each from the disk itself.

You can check the install CD, but the CC effects don’t come with the Academic version, apparently.

    I’m kind of bummed…

If they’re on the CD, it’s no where obvious.

I ordered the “Professional Full Version” but I wasn’t aware that it was more of an upgrade-version or whatever.

    I also didn’t get the 3D Invigorator… I just recieved a coupon for 200 off or something…

    bummer.

    Hmm …

CC effects are also called Cycore effects.

If it really were an upgrade, you wouldn’t be able to use it without a serial number from a different version.

For more info on Invigorator, contact Zaxwerks (there’s a COW forum) or call Adobe Customer Service. I’ve never qualified, since Invig comes with new seats, and I’ve only bought upgrades since 3.1 and 4.1. I’m not sure what you have there.

yeah… I know it’s not an upgrade version, there’s no separate marking on my box/cd case that says its different than the normal one though. I guess I just wish they would’ve said something about it on the website when I bought it.

I’ve heard from folks that the Academic version doesn’t include many of the third-party bits — like the Cycore Effects, Invigorator, and maybe Keylight (don’t remember for sure about that one). But you are getting the full, pro version of AfterEffects; just not the third-party tie-ins. Since I’m sure Adobe has to license the third-party bonuses, it’s probably not cost-effective for them to pay other companies license rights when they’re selling the program at the amazingly inexpensive academic rate.
