  • CC and removing a filter from all clips at once.

Hey everyone, Im new here, but have been using fcp for a while.

So, when I would color correct in fcp 7, I would do the cc on one clip and then copy that filter onto the rest at the same time. I’ve been messing with the match color option, but I don’t see a way to make minor adjustments to the color correction without adding a second cc filter on top. Is it possible (and I’m just missing it) to adjust the “match color” on the second clip?

Also, say I decide I don’t like my color correction and want to start from scratch. Remove all color for all clips, I used to use the remove attributes feature to remove color or any effect from all clips at once. I have not been able to figure this out.

    Thanks in advance.

As you probably aware, unfortunatley the balance and match colour effects are just a checkbox on and off and any tweaking is done by jumping into colour board or using a filter on top.

It would be nice if the match and balance process simply adjusted the settings in the colour board.

Yes I miss the “remove attributes” option as well. It’s a bit of a hack but you can remove all colour settings on 1st clip, then command+c to copy, then select all the other clips with effects on and then hit option+command+v (paste effects), so instead of “removing attributes” you are simply pasting nothing…I did warn you it was a bit of a hack 😉

    cheers

Bit of a hack, but it does what I need! Thanks. I hope that they add the remove attributes feature, but I don’t think many people are pushing for that feature to be added…….

Hopefully paste and remove attributes functionality gets added back in soon though, I’m no programmer but surely that’s not too difficult….

But can be lived without in favour of 1 or 2 slightly more important features which should be added first.

    Cheers,

    Brendan

Just select the clip you want to copy from and hit option-command-C. Then highlight the clip you want to paste onto and hit Option-Command-V. Voila, you’ve just copied ALL of the effect filters to the new clip. Works great for color correcting and audio sweetening.

If you only want certain effects, open the menu in the upper left of the clip and uncheck the effects you don’t want copied.
